Emmy Grinwis has directed plays, short films, commercials, and music videos across the US and abroad. She was born in Washington DC but has lived in places like Israel, Brussels, Indonesia, France, England, and the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. She has an MFA from the Yale School of Drama where she was the Artistic Director of the Summer Cabaret at Yale for the 29th Season and the 30th Anniversary Season. In 2009, Emmy was one of 8 women selected to be part of AFI's Directing Workshop for Women. As part of the workshop, she directed a short film she wrote called The Muskrat Boy of Griffith Park. The fIlm has played at festivals in the US and Europe, including Raindance, DC Shorts, Moondance, LA Women's International, Portland Oregon Women's Festival, and La Femme Festival where Muskrat Boy won Best Short FIlm. In March 2010 Emmy was selected by ABC TV and the Women in Film TV & Media Committee to participate in the director shadowing program. She also teaches creative writing at Central Juvenile Hall in downtown LA.
